The four Lloyds TSB Foundations – one each for England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands – were set up to support under-funded charities which help disadvantaged or disabled people. The independent Foundations are among the UK’s largest grant making trusts and have distributed grants of over £275 million since 1987.
The Foundations are shareholders in Lloyds Banking Group and in lieu of a dividend receive one per cent of the Group's pre-tax profits averaged over three years. The money is used to make grants to registered charities and funding goes mainly to charities working in two fields: social and community needs and education and training.
The Foundations are legally independent of the Group and their policies are determined by an independent Boards of Trustees.
